PRESIDENT Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is still waiting for an answer after revealing that Ukraine has suggested to China to join his version of the peace formula to end the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
The statement of the Ukrainian president comes amid the China-Russia summit.
In a press briefing with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Zelenskyy said that,
“We offered China to become a partner in the implementation of the peace formula. We passed over our formula across all channels. We invite you to dialogue. We are waiting for your answer. We are receiving some signals, but there are no specifics yet.”
Following the talks, Zelenskyy visited the frontline positions of the Ukrainian military in the Donetsk Region, Bakhmut Area.
The Ukrainian president shook hands with his soldiers and handed out decorations to them.
Both Russian and Ukrainian forces are heavily invested in Bakhmut, the small city that has witnessed one of the most intense and heaviest bloodbaths and exchange of fires since the conflict broke out last year.
Bakhmut had a pre-war population of around 80,000 people; both countries believe this city is a key city, although analysts say it only has little strategic value.
