Zelenskyy: Ukrainian counter-offensive is near

UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a big media briefing with journalists regarding the conflict and the expectations of a counter-offensive.

And there, Zelenskyy confirmed that a Ukrainian counteroffensive would happen, although he did not provide an exact timeline.

“We are preparing for it Ukrainian counteroffensive. It will happen,” said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine.

He said Ukraine is still in need of certain weapons and the main risk for his army is whether they will have enough supply of ammunition.

Last week, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov told the media that the preparations for a counteroffensive are coming to an end and that they are ready in a global sense.

“Equipment has been promised, prepared, and partially delivered. In a global sense, we’re ready,” said Oleksii Reznikov, Ukrainian Defense Minister.

But the Ukrainian army will first have to battle through Russia’s multiple layers of defense, including dragon’s teeth positions.

‘Dragon’s teeth’—Russia’s first line of defense

Russia erected barriers, and vast trench defense networks can be seen from satellite images—these are Russia’s trenches known as ‘dragon’s teeth’ located in the east of Vasylivka and Zaporizhzhia.

The dragon’s teeth are square-pyramidal anti-tank obstacles created to impede the movements of tanks and mechanized infantry.

A move likely came as Ukraine has amassed dozens of tanks—including Abrams and leopards, provided by the United States and its NATO allies.

Ukraine will also likely face Russia’s newest battle tank, the T14 Armata, which entered the Ukrainian battlefield days ago.

Reports say these tanks, which claim to rival Abrams and Leopards, are being used to fire on Ukrainian positions; however, it has not yet been used for direct assault operations.

But, Russia also has a slightly different approach among their ranks, leaving some experts questioning their readiness.

In the last 72 hours, Russia fired its Deputy Defense Minister in charge of logistics, Mikhail Mizintsev, and installed Aleksei Kuzmenkov.

Mizintsev is known by his nickname, the ‘Butcher of Mariupol’.

His removal comes after Prigozhin’s rounds of criticism and the apparent lack of ammunition being provided by the Russian Defense Ministry.
