TWELVE associations in Surigao del Norte received livelihood grants from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on May 27, 2024, at the Surigao City Gymnasium.
DSWD-SLP distributed PhP4,995,000 in livelihood grants to the newly organized associations, which will serve as their seed capital fund to establish their proposed livelihood activities.
The Department hopes that this livelihood intervention will empower and capacitate the program participants and help them improve their socio-economic condition and that of their families.
Field Office Caraga OIC-Asst. Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes, Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers, Vice Governor Eddie Gokiangkee, Jr., and Tingog Party List Deputy Secretary General for Luzon Glenn Jude Rufino led the turnover of livelihood grants to the SLP associations. They were joined by Surigao City Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II, Vice Mayor Alfonso Casurra, Tingog Party List Surigao del Norte Engr. Felix Vension Chua, and ABC President of Surigao City Florenillo Ravelo.
