Atty. Roque says witnesses of Hontiveros vs. Pastor Apollo Quiboloy are ‘recycled’

WITNESSES against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy who appeared before Sen. Risa Hontiveros, deemed recycled according to a former Palace official.

Former Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque made this statement regarding Sen. Hontiveros’s hearing on accusations against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

According to Roque, jealousy or envy might be among the reasons why Pastor Apollo is being targeted persistently.

“All of this is in aid of election to a higher office at the expense of others, Pastor Quiboloy,” said Atty. Harry Roque, Former Presidential Spokesperson.

If the investigation against Pastor Apollo is genuinely in aid of legislation, Roque believes the Senate should draft the laws they aim to form.

“All investigations in Congress should be in aid of legislation, not in aid of election for a higher position. Don’t act like you’re playing god in your Senate investigations. Write the laws you want to establish through this investigation. If it’s proven that it’s just to hear complaints that have already been dismissed by the executive branch’s prosecutor’s office, it should be stopped,” exclaimed Roque.

Meanwhile, Hontiveros previously stated that Pastor Apollo could face imprisonment if he doesn’t attend the Senate hearing.

But Roque insists that the hearing of cases and the decision to file a case is not the legislature’s job.

He also mentioned the case of Pharmally official Lincoln Ong, where the court said the Senate cannot easily imprison someone, as the accused’s rights must be respected.

“The Senate and Congress have no power to investigate if the matter is already in another branch of the government that indeed has the duty to deliver justice to the alleged victims,” Roque stated.

Pastor Apollo had previously challenged Hontiveros to file charges against him in court.

The next Senate hearing on the allegations against Pastor Apollo is scheduled on March 5, 2024.
