THE Davao City Cooperative and Development Office (CCDO) has called on cooperatives in the city to reach out to their office for livelihood assistance and training.
The Cooperative Livelihood and Training Center (CLTC), a unit under the CCDO, offers free livelihood programs such as skills trainings to interested cooperatives in the city.
Abigail Jabulan, CCDO’s Technical Assistant, in an interview with Ronda DCDR over the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) said that the CLTC offers skills training and Cooperative Livelihood Development Program-Start Up Capital Assistance (CLDP-SUCA) as part of its livelihood programs.
Jabulan added that there are two types of skills training that the CLTC offers: one that is funded by the city government, and the other is what they refer to as invitational trainings wherein cooperatives, association, and other organizations invite their office to conduct trainings.
“The CLTC sets the type of training that we’ll conduct as well as the venue for the training,” she said.
The CLTC was able to hold two batches of perfume-making, a candle-making, and fruit processing workshops.
At least 145 participants from 38 participating cooperatives were able to avail of the funded skills training, while 500 participants attended the invitational trainings.
Jabulan also shared that for the CLDP-SUCA, their office was able to grant start-up loans to 135 clients since its first implementation in 2021.
The CLDP-SUCA is a form of financial assistance offered to individual members of cooperatives in the form of loans.
Individual members of cooperatives who wish to do business and are in need for a start up capital assistance may avail of a loan amounting to P10,000 to P20,000.
Some of the requirements needed to avail of the assistance include participating and completing the CLTC’s skills training, and a certificate of good standing from the cooperative that the individual is a member of.
The client must also be a resident of the city, and have a willingness to do business.
For more details and qualifications on how to avail for the CLDP-SUCA, Dabawenyos are urged to visit the CCDO’s district offices.
