DepEd strengthens regional collaboration on disaster risk reduction and climate change education

THE Department of Education (DepEd), represented by Undersecretary for Operations Malcolm Garma, opened the SEAMEO Council Presidency Flagship Program 3, “Ready SEA: Showcasing the Integration of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change in Teaching and Learning,” on behalf of Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

The four-day program gathered delegates from Southeast Asian nations, DepEd key officials, DRRM coordinators, and education partners to advance regional collaboration.

Garma emphasized that education plays a crucial role in building a resilient future, stating,

“In a region as interconnected as Southeast Asia, collective action is not merely an option but a necessity, ensuring that education remains a durable lifeline for sustainable and equitable progress in the face of an uncertain future,” Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary for Operations Malcolm Garma said.
