DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment II (DOLE) Regional Director Jesus Elpidio Atal Jr., handed over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (BFAR-R02) Regional Director Angel Encarnacion a check worth PHP 8,985,250 to support fisherfolk and farmers in Batanes who were severely affected by Typhoons Julian and Leon.
The livelihood assistance will benefit 11 associations composed of 295 informal workers whose livelihoods were disrupted by the typhoons in October and November of 2024, which forms part of the DOLE-BFAR project, “Sustaining Batanes Through Fisheries and Livelihood Program.”
The project aims to provide fisherfolk and farmers with essential tools, training, and resources to boost their productivity and income
