THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) remains at the forefront of combatting child labor in the Philippines through its Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP).
Together with its partners in the government, nongovernment sectors, and private stakeholders, DOLE through its Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns and regional offices, have rolled out child labor information caravans aimed at protecting children’s rights, uplifting vulnerable families, and providing them with the necessary support services to overcome the challenges of child labor.
Child labor info caravans in the regions
On February 13, DOLE Nueva Vizcaya awarded ₱450,500 worth of livelihood kits to 10 parents of child laborers, complemented by training on entrepreneurship, productivity, and safety to ensure the sustainability of their businesses.
In NCR, DOLE-National Capital Region, in collaboration with the local government of Quezon City, launched its first information caravan at the QCX Museum in Quezon City Memorial Circle. The event highlighted the government’s efforts to combat child labor through education, support services, and stakeholder collaboration.
