THE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives or MBRGI in Dubai pledged millions of dollars of direct food aid in Gaza through the United Nations World Food Program.
The initiative was made upon the order of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The financial support was announced at the Food Innovations Hub Meeting as part of the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
In May 2022, the Dubai-based organization signed a cooperation agreement with the World Economic Forum to establish the Global Platform for Food Innovation Hubs.
The initiative aims to accelerate innovative solutions for food sustainability and production worldwide while addressing food insecurity in vulnerable areas.
The latest financial support brings MBRGI’s total contribution to 230 million Dirhams since the beginning of its collaboration with the UN World Food Program in 2021. The direct food aid is set to benefit more than one million people in Gaza.
The organization also pledged an additional 37 million Dirhams in funding to support Gaza’s health sector.
