REPRESENTATIVES from the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), led by James Lo, paid a courtesy visit to NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan on April 8, 2024.
During the meeting, the group expressed their desire to collaborate more with the various government agencies to elevate the Philippine game development industry.
They also shared the challenges that the emerging industry is currently facing, such as difficulties in connecting with investors and other industries that are needed to develop games and the general lack of support for the gaming industry.
Balisacan shared that the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) for 2023-2032 is a potential avenue of collaboration with GDAP.
The NIASD is primarily about establishing a dynamic innovation ecosystem which is characterized – among other things – by platforms that connect different innovation actors to each other and a government that enables and encourages innovation that is driven by the private sector.
