Google’s Bard AI chatbot now accessible in Australia

AUSTRALIANS are now able to access Google’s new AI chatbot, with the company showcasing its advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) along with a promise to develop the technology ethically.

The rise of generative artificial intelligence or AI that can respond creatively to human inquiries is one of the hottest technology developments to date.

Recently, Google announced the launching of Bard, an AI chatbot and rival to the headline-grabbing ChatGPT.

Powered by Google’s very own and most advanced large language model (LLM) PaLM 2, the AI-powered chatbot can hold human-like conversations, generate software code, answer math problems, and help with their writing needs, among others.

In February, Bard cost Google $100 billion after the AI chatbot gave incorrect answers to questions posed by users at a launch event. However, a more advanced version of PaLM which was released in April 2022 will allow Bard to be much more efficient, perform at a much higher level and fix previous issues.

It is designed to compete with the ever-popular ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing as well as support up to forty languages in the future.

Until now, Bard was only available in the US and the UK, but Google announced plans to make the chatbot accessible to more than 180 countries including Australia.
