‘Malasakit sa kooperatiba, pagsulong ng komunidad’ — Bong Go boosts cooperative in Carmen, Davao del Norte

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), has extended support to the ALMACA Banana Growers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Carmen, Davao del Norte, through the Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program.

The program, part of the CDA’s Human Capital Development Program which Go has supported, underscores the their joint commitment to uplifting micro and small cooperative enterprises nationwide.

The ALMACA Cooperative shared an inspiring testimonial highlighting the impact of the assistance they received: “We are very much thankful for the assistance. It gives great help to our members and workers for easy access in times of immediate needs such as rice at the same time it gives additional income to our cooperative. We are looking forward to more cooperatives that can also benefit and enjoy the programs from CDA. God bless and more power CDA!”

The P50,000 financial grant turned over by CDA with the support of Senator Go allowed the them to establish a rice business, providing its members with a reliable source of essential goods while generating additional income for the cooperative.

According to Go, such success stories reflect the transformative power of programs like Malasakit sa Kooperatiba, which aim to empower cooperatives and their members to thrive.

As Vice Chairperson of the Senate Finance Committee and member of the Senate Committee on Cooperatives, Senator Go has been a staunch advocate for increased funding for cooperative programs in the national budget. He recognizes the pivotal role of cooperatives in fostering economic stability and livelihood in communities, particularly in rural areas.

“Cooperatives are vital in driving economic growth and empowering individuals to build better lives,” Senator Go emphasized. “Through their collective efforts, they create opportunities, provide access to essential resources, and contribute to the sustainable development of our nation.” 

Go has consistently championed initiatives that support cooperatives across the Philippines. His commitment is rooted in the belief that cooperatives not only uplift the lives of their members but also serve as a backbone for local economies, promoting entrepreneurship, social equity, and financial inclusivity.

Senator Bong Go’s support for cooperatives, in partnership with the CDA, reinforces the importance of collaboration between the government and the cooperative sector in achieving inclusive growth and sustainable development.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Senator Go.
