IPINAGMALAKI ng Commanding General ng Philippine Army na si Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. ang resulta ng modernization program ng pamahalaan.
Matatandaan na isa ang AFP modernization sa iniwang legasiya ng administrasyong Duterte kung saan sa kapareho ring administrasyon nakakuha ng pinakamalaking budget ang modernisasyon na umabot sa P300-B.
Sa isang one-on-one interview kasama si Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, ibinahagi ni LtGen. Brawner ang mga makabagong kagamitan na nagpapalakas sa kasundaluhan ng ating bansa.
“Our Philippine Army is now more equipped with the latest weapons and with the latest protection equipment. We now have new helmets, we have new vests, we have new rifles. Now, we also have new tanks and we are getting more light tanks in the near future. By next year, marami pa pong darating na mga equipment. We also now have our self propelled 155 howitzers that we can use for internal security operations as well as territorial defense,” pahayag ni Brawner.
Ayon kay Brawner, unti-unti nang nag-iiba ang prayoridad ng Philippine Army mula sa internal security operations dahil sa nakita nila na maganda ang resulta ng laban sa insurhensya.
“Slowly, we are now shifting from internal security operations dahil nakita natin, Pastor dahil sa epekto ng EO 70, talagang natatalo na natin ‘yung mga kalaban both communists terrorists and also the local terrorist groups, ‘yung mga ISIS, ‘yung mga Abu Sayyaf, and so on,” dagdag pa nito.
Target naman ng Philippine Army sa susunod na taon na pagtuunan ang external defense operations upang maging handa sakaling magkaroon ng pananakop o pagsalakay mula sa ibang bansa.
Samantala, inihayag ni Pastor Apollo ang kanyang buong suporta sa Philippine Army para sa pagpapaganda at pagpapaunlad ng bansa.
“Rest assured, that SMNI will be behind you. And we will be covering all the developments that we are doing for nation building and for the peace of our nation. We will be there. We will be with you. We will be behind you and we will be praying for you,” ayon kay Pastor Apollo.
“And anytime you have important information to rely to the people, SMNI will be here,” dagdag pa ng butihing Pastor.
