NAKIKITA na ni Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Chief Lt. Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. ang pagbagsak ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa Northern at Central Luzon.
Dahil sa sunod-sunod na pagsuko ng mga rebeldeng grupo ng NPA sa Northern at Central Luzon, abot-tanaw na ng NOLCOM Chief ang pagwawakas ng insurhensiya sa mga nasabing rehiyon.
Sa unang limang araw palang ng kasalukuyang buwan ay pito na dating NPA ang nakipag-isa sa gobyerno at isinuko ang walong armas.
Dagdag pa rito, mayroon na ring mahigit sa 500 na mga dating rebelde ang sumuko mula Enero 1 hanggang Agosto 31 ngayong taon.
Umabot na rin sa 235 na firearms ang nakuha sa mga ito.
“It’s only a matter of time before the NPA will be totally eradicated in this part of the country,” ayon kay Lt. Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr.
Sinabi rin ni Burgos na dumarami na ang supportang natatanggap ng gobyerno sa mga komunidad laban sa mga komunistang teroristang grupo na dahilan sa tuloy-tuloy na pagsuko ng mga rebelde.
Isa rin sa naging elemento para magbalik-loob ang mga rebelde ay ang patuloy na implementasyon ng community development projects sa ilalim ng Barangay Development Program ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Kung matatandaan, kasama sa nilagdaan ni President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang Executive Order #70 noong December 2018 na gawin ang NTF-ELCAC na Whole of Nation approach para wakasan ang pagbagsak ng NPA at itatag ang peace building initiatives.
“The growing support of the communities to the government’s fight against the communist terrorist is a big factor that significantly contributed to our efforts in ending the local communist armed conflict in Northern and Central Luzon. They help us send our message of hope while encouraging their families, friends, and loved ones who have been deceived by the terrorist group to lay down their arms and abandon their armed struggle,”dagdag nito.
Samantala, nanawagan naman si Burgos sa mga komunistang terorista at mga taga suporta ng mga ito na isuko na ang kanilang ipinaglalaban at tanggapin ang iba’t ibang programa ng gobyerno na makapagbibigay tulong sa kanila para sa pagsisimula ng bagong buhay kasama ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay.

Lay down your arms and abandon your armed struggle. Think of your families, think of their future. Christmas is fast approaching, they will be happier and more fulfilled this season of joy with you by their side,”ayon kay Lt. Gen. Burgos.
