Saudi Arabia ends three-year ban on foreign workers

EXPATRIATES whose exit or re-entry visas have expired before they entered Saudi Arabia are now exempted from the travel ban.

The kingdom’s General Directorate of Passports, known locally as Jawazat, has notified officials at all land, sea, and air entry points and ports to allow the expats to enter the country again.

The ban was first imposed in 2022 which ruled that expats who left Saudi Arabia with an exit and re-entry visa, but failed to return before their expiry, were prevented from re-entering the Kingdom for three years.

A worker must have a valid passport and pay off all outstanding fines, if any before being granted an exit or re-entry visa.

The new rule officially took effect on Tuesday, January 16.
