Strengthening Maritime Security: Insights from the JMSTX 2024

THE Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 actively participated in the just concluded Joint Maritime Security Training Exercise (JMSTX) conducted in Basilan Straight, Tawi-tawi, and Sulu Province.

The exercise spearheaded by Naval Forces Western Mindanao and supported by US Counterparts, SOTF 511.2 focused on bolstering the capabilities of AFP units, PNP, PCG and various maritime security agencies within the WESMINCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Through a combination of Command Post Exercises (CPX) and Field Training Exercises (FTX), participants engaged in scenario-based simulations aimed at enhancing operational coordination and effectiveness.

As the unit continue to uphold and rekindle its Maritime Soul, this exercise allowed Team Matatag to test its interdependence, integration, and interoperability among the involved units, forming a cohesive Joint-Interagency Task Force (JIATF-I3).

The JMSTX exercise served as a decisive platform for honing the collective capabilities of AFP units, PNP, PCG and maritime security agencies, ultimately enhancing the maritime security posture within the WESMINCOM AOR.
