Suicide attack in Karachi kills 2 Chinese nationals, injures several

THE suicide bomber targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers and investors leaving Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. The blast, which injured at least seven others, set vehicles on fire.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, stating it was aimed at Chinese workers.

The Chinese embassy confirmed two deaths and one injury among their nationals.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister expressed condolences on social media, vowing to ensure the safety of Chinese workers.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on Chinese projects in Pakistan, linked to the Belt and Road Initiative. The incident comes just before a major security meeting in Islamabad.

China and Pakistan are expected to increase their security efforts as violence targeting Chinese investments continues to grow in the region.
