The people know who blocked the Bulacan Maisug Rally—political strategist

IT seems impossible for the people not to know who prevented what should have been a peaceful Rally of Maisug to push through in Bustos, Bulacan over the weekend.

“They are so afraid of Maisug reaching Luzon,” according to Malou Tiquia, Political Strategist.

For political strategist Malou Tiquia, it is obvious who hindered the Maisug Prayer Rally in Bustos, Bulacan from pushing through on Sunday.

She was actually one of the numerous people who were disappointed as many Filipino citizens were not given the chance for their voices to be heard in what could have been the rally.

“If you do not believe that the Dutertes know how to pray and you do not believe that their supporters only want peace, and you know, that this problem can be discussed. Because if the leadership does not talk or listen to the grievances in this rally, we will have nowhere to go. And that destination is checkmate – checkmate for their camp, checkmate for the camp of the Dutertes. It’s not good for the country because life is getting harder and harder,” Malou Tiquia, Political Strategist said.

Be ‘creative’, rally must continue—Tiquia, Atty. Panelo

Tiquia and former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo have an advice for the organizers and supporters of the Maisug Rally.

To note, it is written in Article III, Section 4 of the Philippine constitution that the Filipino people have the right to freedom of expression, peacefully assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.

“No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances,” 1987 Philippine Constitution, Article III, Section 4.

“When you are being oppressed and pushed to the edge, learn to be creative,” Tiquia added.

“You know, be creative,” Atty. Salvador ‘Sal’ Panelo, Former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel stated.

“Also, for me – just in my heart – if you are not given a permit, go ahead anyway. For you, you should give a permit but you don’t want to. For us, we will still go there because ours is a peaceful rally anyway. Do what you want. That’s what we did in our time until it grew bigger and bigger – it became a fire because you were blocking it, so it’s you all along. That’s what [former] President Duterte meant. You have a problem there,” Panelo added.

Similar to what Atty. Panelo said, Tiquia also has a warning for Malacañang.

”That’s in political management – it’s called ‘theory of the crowd’. Those in Malacañang must be observant because this act of restraint.”

“You cannot silence this because you prevented it, right? We actually said, the moment you try to stop a person, all the more he/she will push through,” Tiquia stated.

It can be remembered that the organizers of the Maisug Rally said that they will once again organize a rally in Luzon after conducting a victorious one in Visayas and Mindanao.
