TURKISH Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian in light of the ongoing military escalation in Gaza.
Fidan reiterated Turkiye’s call for an immediate ceasefire in the besieged enclave amid uncertainties that the violence could spread in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, warned that the armed groups it supports in the region could attack Israel amid the ongoing war with Hamas.
Amirabdollahian also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
The meeting came a day after the Iranian foreign minister held talks with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar for the second time since the war broke out.
The conflict in the Middle East is providing common ground for political rivals Turkiye and Iran.
