THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) reportedly complained of the lack of a strong response from its American ally amid security concerns in the Persian Gulf.
In a recent report by Wall Street Journal, the Gulf state reportedly asked their American counterparts for increased patrolling in the Persian Gulf.
The Western media quoted US and Gulf officials for the particular concern.
Earlier this month, White House spokesperson John Kirby told the press the Department of Defense will be making a series of moves to boost its defensive posture in the Arabian Gulf.
“The Department of Defense will be making a series of moves to bolster our defensive posture in the Arabian Gulf,” said John Kirby.
Kirby made the statement more than a week after Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard seized a second oil tanker in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iran however said the seizure was due to an unspecified court order from Tehran.
Meanwhile, the U.S. 5th Fleet, based in Bahrain said it “is working with regional allies and partners to increase the rotation of ships and aircraft patrolling in and around the Strait of Hormuz.”
The UAE requested for stronger US military presence amid tensions between Iran and the West over Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.
