ON Monday, protesters threw petrol bombs at authorities during a parade against The Good Friday peace accord .

On the same day, Northern Ireland commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the end of the troubles, which is an ethno-nationalist conflict that lasted for about 30 years.

25 years ago, on the April 10, 1998 ‘The Good Friday Agreement’ ended the said conflict.

But the violent demonstrations took place ahead of United State President Joe Biden‘s visit to Northern Ireland.

According to reports, the trip is part of diplomacy and paying homage to his heritage.

It can be noted that Biden has mentioned many times in the past how proud he is about his Irish ancestry.

Aside from this, it can be noted that American politicians played a crucial role in securing ‘The Good Friday Agreement’.

Biden himself sees the agreement as a part of his political legacy as he encouraged US Involvement in the peace process through the said conflict.

In Northern Ireland, Biden is expected to talk about how the US can support the country’s vast economic potential as well as to tour his ancestral land in County Mayo and County Louth.
