World’s largest iceberg moving away from Antarctica after decades

THE colossal iceberg, called A23A, has resumed its movement away from Antarctica.

Twice the size of Greater London, A23a detached from Antarctica in 1986, grounded for 40 years in Weddell, and is now moving again, propelled by winds and currents.

Scientists predict that this iceberg will head toward the Southern part of the Atlantic Ocean near South Georgia Island, home to millions of seals, penguins, and birds.

Fears arise over potential disruptions to South Georgia Island’s wildlife habitat, but these are still speculations.

Experts, however, assert that this event may not be linked to climate change, emphasizing it as a natural occurrence.
