ISRAEL’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan shocked the 193 representatives of the UN General Assembly after he showed them a startling footage of a Thai worker being decapitated using a garden tool by a member of the Hamas terror group.
In his speech, Erdan emphasized that the victim seen in the video was not Israeli or Jewish, but an agricultural worker from Thailand.
The Israeli envoy made the speech during the two-day UN General Assembly held in the Middle East which started on Thursday.
The assembly was set to vote on Friday on a resolution drafted by Arab states regarding a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Israel however rejected calls for a ceasefire and vowed to destroy Hamas, with Erdan warning to refuse issuing visas to UN officials as spat with the international organization deepens.
The Israeli envoy made it clear that the fighting in Gaza has nothing to do with the Arab-Israeli conflict nor the Palestinians but said it is a war with the Hamas terror organization whose only goal is to murder every single Jew.
Israeli ambassador urges UN chief to resign
The Israeli ambassador repeated his call for the immediate resignation of Guterres and accused the UN chief of “justifying terrorism” after he said that the deadly attacks launched by Hamas towards Israel “did not happen in a vacuum,” taken as indirect criticism of the Jewish state.
“Mr. Secretary-General, the UN…this is a pure-blood libel,” according to Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN.
Guterres responded to the Israeli envoy stating that he rejected “misrepresentations” of his statement. However, Erdan slammed the UN chief for distorting and twisting reality and repeated his call for Guterres to resign.
