FOLLOWING the grand, 3-day military drills that the Chinese forces conducted from Saturday to Monday, the military posted a computer-generated animation by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command showing its mock joint precision strikes on the Island of Taiwan.
The said video showed of what looked to be trajectory missiles landing on the Island of Taiwan and its surrounding waters, mapping how Chinese military aircraft and its navy vessels could launch a coordinated attack.
To recall, heightened tensions soared even more following Taiwanese President Tsa Ing-Wen’s trip to the United States as China conducted its recent military drills around Taiwan with dozens of fighter planes continuously patrolling the Taiwan Strait and the Northern ends of the Taiwan Island.
The Chinese military, on the other hand, said their operation was a great warning against the relationship between the separatist forces that fight for Taiwan independence and external forces in its provocations and activities, insisting that it is necessary to protect China’s sovereignty as well as its territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, after returning from the US, Taiwan President Tsa Ing-Wen slammed China for what she calls as irresponsible behavior over the military drills.
“China is using this to launch military exercises to cause instability in Taiwan and the region, which is not the responsible attitude of a regional power.”
“Although china’s military exercises have come to an end, the national army and national security team will continue to hold their positions and defend the country,” according to Tsa Ing-Wen, President of Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Defense Ministry on Tuesday also claimed that their forces have spotted Chinese warplanes and navy ships in their waters despite announcing the end of their drills, saying that around 9 Chinese ships, 26 aircraft were seen carrying out combat readiness patrols around the island.
