Cyprus repatriates 42 illegal migrants

AT least 42 people from developing nations were sent back to their countries of origin from Cyprus.

The latest operation conducted by the Aliens and Immigration Service aims to curb the rising number of illegal residents in the country.

The illegal migrants departed out of Cyprus on three separate flights from Larnaca Airport.

The government has repatriated more than 8,600 third-country nationals since the start of the year.

Cyprus is also facing a refugee crisis, as the island becomes a famous transit point for illegal migrants.

Every year, Cyprus welcomes thousands of refugees who risk their lives traveling the dangerous waters of the Mediterranean Sea in search of a better life in Europe.

The involvement of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah in the Israel-Hamas War raised fears of more migrants arriving in Cyprus from Lebanon.
