France relocates hundreds of migrants from largest squat ahead of Paris Olympics

POLICE have evicted approximately 300 migrants from a southern suburb in the French capital of Paris this week.

The makeshift camp is home to around 450 people.

Police asked migrants to board buses and transfer to other parts of France.

Many of the migrants had refugee status, legal paperwork, and jobs but could not find proper housing in France.

Meanwhile, human rights groups said they fear the eviction will leave migrants even more vulnerable. Charity groups have also accused the government of cleaning up the streets to look better for the Games.

The eviction took place about 100 days before the 2024 Paris Olympics which will run from July 26, 2024, to Aug 11, 2024.

Approximately 10,500 athletes from more than 200 countries will participate in the international sports event
