AS the fighting between Israel and Hamas erupted again on Friday, demonstrators in Israel called for peace and freedom for the remaining hostages held by Hamas.
‘Bring the hostages home’ this was the call of hundreds of Orthodox Jews who gathered in Tel Aviv’s ‘hostage square’ on Friday.
The demonstrators laid out 146 Torah scrolls to represent each Israeli held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Protesters asked for the remaining Israeli hostages to be released so everything could go back to normal and people could start rebuilding their lives devastated by the war.
The deadly assault launched by Hamas on October 7 was considered the worst attack against the Jews since the holocaust.
The humanitarian pause which took effect on November 24 saw the release of 86 Israeli hostages and 24 foreigners, while about 240 Palestinian prisoners were freed from Israeli jails.
The collapse of the truce on November 30 brought disappointment to the families of the Israeli hostages who were not freed despite attempts to extend the ceasefire.
