Thailand extends visa-free stay for Russian tourists

Thailand extends visa-free stay for Russian tourists

STARTING on November 1, 2023, Russian tourists will be able to stay in Thailand for three months without visa.

The new measure will take effect until April 30, 2024.

Nearly one million Russians visited Thailand since the start of the year.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin believes that extending the visa-free period for Russian tourists will positively affect the country’s tourism industry.

Srettha noted that many Russian tourists prefer to stay in Thailand for more than a month, mainly because their winter season lasts from December to March.

Russians ranked 5th among international visitors to travel to Thailand between January and October 2023.

Malaysian visitors lead the list of foreign nationals to travel in the country followed by China, South Korea, and India.

So far, Thailand has welcomed more than 20-M international tourists in the first nine months of 2023.
