UAE creates council to oversee artificial intelligence policies

THE United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed its desire to incorporate artificial intelligence into the key sectors of its economy as it prepares the country for an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled future.

The creation of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) earlier this week reflects the UAE’s strong desire to enhance Abu Dhabi’s status in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced technology.

The council was tasked to oversee the implementation and development of AI policies and strategies that will be applied to research, infrastructure, and investments in Abu Dhabi.

The measure will help strengthen the UAE’s national cyber security and support a nationwide initiative to educate residents about AI.

In 2023, the gulf country launched the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence 2031, a strategy that aims to position the country as a global leader in AI adoption.

UAE government officials are making sure its workforce is equipped with advanced AI skills to enable them to compete with huge technological companies worldwide.

As the UAE slowly embraces the future of AI, Dubai is set to host the two-day global AI show on April 16 and 17, 2024 which aims to bring together influential AI leaders, experts, and enthusiasts worldwide.
