Young Chinese designer brings humanoid robot to life

WANG Xingxing, a Chinese designer who started his own tech company has succeeded in creating a humanoid robot.

The said tech company is based in Zhejiang Province, China, and Wang is also its CEO.

Powered by artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the humanoid robot, named ‘H1,’ stands at a height of 1.8 meters and weighs 47 kilograms.

Wang said ‘H1’ can quickly learn additional skills due to the AI technology.

Among the abilities of the humanoid robot is raising its hand and walking.

“Since it is driven by AI, it will have technical improvement every week, every month. For example, this is the new skill we recently developed. Raise your hand! And like this, go upstairs,” according to Wang Xingxing, CEO, Chinese tech company.

Wang said he and his team managed to develop the humanoid robot in just six months.

And now that they have succeeded in bringing H1 to life, his team plans to further upgrade to humanoid robot.

“We mainly focus on upgrading its athletic ability so that it can adapt to various terrains, even those complex ones, such as traveling across mountains. Besides, we plan to improve it to do more delicate maneuvers. For instance, it can assemble parts in factories [in the future] and conduct certain basic mechanical maintenance,” Wang Xingxing added.

Wang started creating robots in 2013, and he had not graduated from university back then. Still, because of his talent Wang successfully built a robotic dog named ‘XDog’.

And after various test videos of this project grew popular, Wang started receiving financing and went to found his own company in 2016.
