Arab Youth in UAE support peace with Israel–Poll

THE 2023 Arab Youth survey showed that young people in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Morocco, and Egypt support diplomatic ties with Israel.

In Morocco, 50% of young Arabs “strongly support” or “somewhat support” relations with the Jewish state.

But young people from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt showed stronger support towards Israel, reaching 75%, and 73%, respectively. Meanwhile, 53% of respondents in Bahrain said they “strongly oppose” or “somewhat oppose” normalizing relations with Israel.

Overall, the perception of Israel is still mostly negative across the Arab world, with the latest data taken from respondents residing in 14 countries.

Respondents in Iraq and the Palestinian territories expressed 100% opposition to building closer connections with Israel while respondents in Saudi Arabia and North Africa also showed strong opposition.

The regional survey also showed China surpassing the United States in popularity among Arab youth, with the United States ranked seventh among nations considered as friendly, compared to China, which ranked second.

The annual survey aims to present evidence-based insights concerning the attitudes and perceptions of the Arab Youth.

The young people are the Arab world’s largest demographic, with more than 200 million of them across the region.
