ARMY Commanding General Lt. Gen. Galido assured the Philippine Army’s commitment to help secure and protect media workers during Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) Executive Director Undersecretary Paul Gutierrez’s courtesy call at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Taguig City on March 4, 2024.
The Army Chief conveyed the Army’s commitment to help protect press members, especially those deployed in “critical areas” where their lives may be dangerous. The Army Chief also highlighted the crucial role that the media plays in society, as he reiterated the commitment to ensure that members of the press can carry out their duties without fear or intimidation.
It can be noted that the PTFoMS was created under the term of then- Former President Rodrigo R. Duterte through Administrative Order 1 Series 2016. The body is tasked to protect the life, liberty, and security of media workers in the country.
