Israeli forces release video of Hamas leader Sinwar in Gaza tunnel

ISRAELI Defence Forces said it discovered tens of metres of an underground tunnel below the southern Gaza City of Khan Younis.

The IDF also released a found video from a Hamas security camera installed inside the said tunnel.

According to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, this video, filmed on October 10, shows Yahya inside the tunnel, as well as his children, brother, and one of his wives.

Israel labeled Yahya Sinwar as the butcher of Khan Younis and has publicly him of being the mastermind behind the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7 last year.

Sinwar is also considered the most sought-after individual by Israeli forces in Gaza.

In December, the IDF reportedly encircled Sinwar’s residence in Khan Younis, however, they were unable to locate him.

Hagari also stressed that the video was a result of a ‘hunt’, and vowed that they will not stop until

Sinwar is captured, dead or alive.’

Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a ‘complete siege’ of the Gaza Strip, and conducted large-scale airstrikes, and eventually, a ground incursion, which started at the end of the third week of the war.

Israeli leaders vowed to ‘wipe out’ Hamas.

Meanwhile, Palestinian officials reported that at least 27,000 people had been killed and more than 65,000 injured.
