Davao Leaders’ Forum and Prayer Rally to vie Bagong Pilipinas kick-off in Quirino Grandstand

WEEKENDS in Davao City will be alive and kicking.

A prayer rally will be held in the heart of the metropolis, shutting down one of the city’s major thoroughfares, San Pedro Street.

“Something to do with the campaign for transparency, accountability, peace and security,” according to Leoncio ‘Jun’ Evasco, Former Duterte Cabinet Secretary

He says the event was formed due to the people’s clamor demanding good governance for the present administration.

“This is the true people’s initiative because tomorrow in the afternoon, the people will be in a candle-light procession coming out from their barangays to the city central and pray with religious leaders,” Evasco added.

The event is said to vie the Bagong Pilipinas kick-off of the Marcos Jr. administration to be held at the Quirino Grandstand.

And instead of attending the event, many people around Metro Manila decided to fly to Davao to join the prayer rally.

“Earlier, we had a lot of— We have many [supporters coming via] airplane— different flights. Many have arrived since yesterday,” Vivian Velez, Co-convenor, Citizens Coalition for Transformation Movement said.

On Sunday morning, a leaders’ forum will be held at the Grand MenSeng Hotel- still in Davao.

Topics to be discussed include the controversial people’s initiative to amend the 1987 constitution.

Organizers of the event the event is set to be graced by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Senator Imee Marcos is also set to grace the event and other officials from both houses of Congress.

There’s still no word for Vice President Sara Duterte should she attend the occasion.

But the message is clear, The South is speaking with a big voice- the voice of the people.

“So I hope, let’s unite to pray that this government will be made aware of the state of the people who are in need of government’s response,” Evasco added.
