Pastor ACQ on Manila Bay reclamation: Philippines’ interest should always be prioritized

PASTOR Apollo C. Quiboloy of The Kingdom of Jesus Christ has issued a call to all legislators.

“For instance, if you’re a senator or a legislator when making a decision on an issue, use your own judgment. Don’t be swayed by others and decide based on what they urge you to do, especially if it’s coming from another country,” Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, said.

This is the appeal made by Pastor Apollo to all legislators following the resolution filed in the House of Representatives to investigate the Manila Bay reclamation project.

The House Resolution No. 1171 filed by the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list, led by Cong. Erwin Tulfo urges the Committee on National Defense and Security, Committee on Ecology, and other appropriate committees to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation regarding the status of the Manila Bay reclamation projects and its consequential effects on national security and the environment.

The resolution was submitted following a United States Embassy report saying that the China Communications Construction Co., the company involved in the reclamation operation in Manila Bay, is blacklisted in the US due to alleged fraudulent actions.

The said company is owned by Beijing and is believed to be responsible for establishing air and naval bases for China in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“For instance, if someone encourages you, and their words align with the benefit of us Filipinos, that’s fine. But if they encourage you and then you blindly follow, creating a resolution because you were prompted by a more powerful nation, that’s biased. You’re not a true Filipino then, you’re not standing on your own, and you’re not using your own mind,” Pastor Apollo added.

The good Pastor emphasized that whatever issues the legislators discuss must  always be for Philippine interest.

“We’re talking about our nation here. That’s why we elect legislators, for them to stand on their own and think for themselves about the issues, whatever they may be, for the interest of the Filipino people, not to be swayed by the urgings of other countries. If you follow the urgings of other countries, you become their follower. They’re safeguarding their interests, not ours. Did we elect you for that? No. The focus here is solely on us,” according Pastor Apollo.

Meanwhile, the good pastor has an advice for all Filipino lawmakers.

“Study the issue, for example, reclamation. Let’s study it ourselves. No interference from others. Let’s study whether the issue is beneficial for our country or not. We’re talking about the Philippines here, not the foreign countries present, but our Filipino interests. That’s what should always be on our minds. That’s my opinion,” Pastor Apollo said.
