CAMBODIA and China vowed to boost people-to-people connections as both countries commemorate nearly seven decades of bilateral ties.
The two countries have formally established diplomatic relations on July 19, 1958.
However, their historical alliance dates back centuries through trade, diplomacy and migration.
This year’s anniversary held at the sun & moon, riverside hotel in Phnom Penh was hosted by the Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.
This event also marked the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The government of Cambodia thanked the Chinese government and its people for the continuous support and assistance to the Southeast Asian nation in all sectors.
Chinese and Cambodian leaders have engaged in high-profile diplomatic this month including Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit to China in mid-September.
A week after, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni met in Hangzhou during the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games.
Chinese and Cambodian military personnel also launched a joint exercise dubbed Peace Angel 2023 last month.
