AS previously warned, North Korea has made an ‘inevitable response’ to its adversaries’ increased defense cooperation by launching two short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea.
This is what the joint chiefs of staff of South Korea announced when they detected two short-range ballistic missiles which launched from the Sunan Area of North Korea around 7:25 to 7:37 local time Thursday evening.
According to authorities, this is another provocation by North Korea that is being closely monitored by South Korea and the U.S. intelligence authority.
The said missiles landed in Japan’s exclusive economic zone after one missile had flown for 850 kilometers and the other around 900 kilometers at altitudes of 50 kilometers.
A clear protest against the large-scale live-fire ‘annihilation’ exercise held by South Korea and the United States in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, a city near the inter-Korean border on Thursday, to mark the 70th anniversary of the bilateral alliance.
According to the defense ministry spokesperson of North Korea, the live-fire exercise conducted by the two allied countries is a true “provocation and irresponsible step”.
It can be recalled that North Korea last launched a ballistic missile on April 13th, the Hwasong-18 ICBM, and on May 31st, it launched a rocket carrying a military reconnaissance satellite which later failed and plunged into the sea.
