PEOPLE in Chiang Mai filed a lawsuit against the government of Thailand.
For years of neglect in failing to solve the never-ending air pollution problem in the region.
About 1,700 Chiang Mai residents filed a lawsuit before the administrative court against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha and 2 state agencies.
The plaintiffs claim that the smog is causing their lifespans to be reduced by approximately five years due to the government’s failure to address the issue.
Moreover, the entities have allegedly neglected to use their power to resolve the smog crisis.
They are demanding that the government changes its policies and not just be considerate towards capitalist groups which could help save millions of people from illness.
The plaintiffs blamed contract farming as the primary cause of severe air pollution.
