METRO Manila is quiet on the 55th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), with areas accustomed to rallies remaining silent on the CPP anniversary.
The CPP declared a two-day unilateral ceasefire for all units of its armed wing, the New People’s Army, across the Philippines.
The ceasefire started at 12:01 AM on Dec. 25 and lasted until 11:59 PM on Dec. 26.
However, former cadre Ka Eric, questioned the credibility of this tactic by CPP-NPA-NDF, especially in the context of exploration talks, challenging the sincerity of the government-recognized terrorist group.
“Where will peace talks lead us? Whether exploratory or actual peace talks, without disarmament, demobilization, reintegration, and dismantling of the NPA, that perspective is dangerous,” Jeffrey ‘’Ka Eric’’ Celiz, former NPA Cadre said.
Celiz emphasizes that for sincere peace talks, CPP should dissolve its armed wing, the NPA, responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians and government soldiers.
“I repeat, without a categorical declaration from the Communist Party of the Philippines to release and dismantle the NPA, discussions without a framework for true peace are perilous,” Celiz added.
Retired PMAEr views the administration’s exploratory talks as foolish.
Retired Army Captain and Scout Ranger Dado Enrique, in an interview with SMNI News, believes communist terrorist groups shouldn’t be accommodated any longer.
“We have come to a point from 25,000 regulars during Cory and Ramos’ time to now around 1,800, and many surrendered thousands! So, peace talks or exploratory talks are a stupid thing to do,” according to Ret. Clemente ‘Dado’ Enrique (RET) Baron, PMA Class of ‘83*.
Enrique asserts that NTF-ELCAC, with good governance, is sufficient against government adversaries.
He condemns negotiations with the left, emphasizing the lives lost and the futility of talking to them.
“Wait, many have died there! Many lives wasted there! Our comrades? Dead! Didn’t experience growing old! 28 years old, dead! The young victims? Dead! Do we want to add more? Let’s end it!” Enrique added.
Enrique is one among thousands of PMA upperclassmen condemning negotiations with the left. Currently, even VP Sara Duterte believes the government gains nothing from talking to them.
“I want you to know that the sole purpose of CPP, NPA, and NDFP is to destroy the foundation of our democracy, overthrow government institutions, and drag us into poverty, chaos, and injustice,” according to Vice President Sara Duterte, Republic of the Philippines.
