ISINUSULONG ng New Development Bank (NDB), isang multilateral bank na nagrerepresenta sa mga bansang kasapi ng BRICS ang paggamit ng local currency sa mga transaksiyon upang bawasan ang paggamit ng U.S. dollar sa international trade at finance.
Sa ginanap na ika-54 na taunang pagpupulong ng World Economic Forum sa Davos, Switzerland, naging mainit na usapin ang high-interest rate.
Sa isang interview sa CGTN sa sidelines ng pagpupulong, inihayag ni Vladimir Kazbekov, vice president ng New Development Bank ang hakbang ng NDB para bawasan ang pagiging dependent sa dolyar sa pamamagitan ng Chinese currency.
“China provided for International New Development Bank special rights or special conditions. Now we can use CNY abroad, and finance projects we’ve seen by outside China directly. Now we’re considering first projects of that type in member countries like Brazil. And now we can swap CNY without any limit to USD or any other currency. And we [are] also considering direct swap from CNY to other member countries’ currencies” saad ni Vladimir Kazbekov, Vice President and COO, New Development Bank.
Ayon kay Kazbekov, ang dedollarization ay isang malaking hamon pero dahil sa suporta ng mga kasaping bansa sa paggamit ng kanilang local currency ay nairaos ito.
“It’s a very interesting period, challenging, but we see the new opportunities for NDB because we have quite I should say effective member countries ready to support the institution. We feel it every day in China, India, Brazil, Russia and in the South Africa, and in Emirates, they are very effectively ready to support and to [gain] entrance to the financial market,” ayon kay Vladimir Kazbekov, Vice President and COO, New Development Bank.
Ang NDB ay pormal na binuksan noong Hulyo taong 2015 at itinatag ng mga bansang kasapi sa BRICS kabilang ang Brazil, Russia, India, China, at South Africa.
Noong 2021, inihayag ng NDB na palalawigin nito ang membership nito at tinanggap nga ang Bangladesh, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, at Uruguay bilang bagong kasaping bansa.
