MAAARING magwakas ang Mutual Defense Treaty ng Amerika at Pilipinas kung magkakaroon din ng kasunduan ang dalawang bansa na tapusin na ito.
Ito ang inihayag ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte kung saan aniya, posibleng hindi pumayag ang Estados Unidos sa hakbang na ito.
“Let me start by saying that the RP-US Treaty Mutual Defense Agreement was agreed upon by both the United States and the Philippines, and so the only way that we can end it is also by a mutual agreement between the Philippines and the United States to end the treaty,” ayon kay dating Pangulong Duterte.

Ayon kay Duterte, hindi nakapasok ang visiting forces noon dahil na rin sa kaniyang katayuan sa neutrality ng bansa kung saan sinabi rin nito na hindi siya papayag na magkaroon ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) base sa Davao.

Dagdag ng dating pangulo, posibleng madamay ang Pilipinas sa giyera sa pagitan ng Estados Unidos at China kung sakaling kuhanin na muli ng China ang Taiwan na teritoryo nito.
“Itong pangyayari ngayon if China decides to invade Taiwan and America decides to go into a war we will be drag we do have fight against China,” aniya pa.
“We have no quarrel with China, we have no quarrel with America, we are thankful with their accommodations, Filipinos are there making a living, giving them opportunity, nag-pasalamat ako, but the facts remain once upon a time you enslave my country, don’t forget it,” aniya pa.
“Now kung ito, dito ma-pipirito tayo, if magka-giyera things go out of control it could be because China wants to gets its territory back to its fold and America is there to defend the integrity of the Republic sabi nila kasi Republic na sila and itong Amerikano naman they cannot have the base there right in Taiwan itself,” paliwanag ni FPRRD.
Ayon kay Duterte, magkakaroon talaga ng gulo kung nandyan ang mga Amerikano dahil na rin sa mga military base ng mga ito sa iba’t ibang mga bansa.
“You know Amerika basta may Amerika talagang gulo yan, I do not know why. I am not saying that they are doing their purpose but in Vietnam sabog what was the net result, nag-atras sila they were put to shame pati ‘yung mga equipments nila hinulog nila sa dagat just to escape the travails of the war, dito sila sa Middle East nag stand by sila sa Syria, gulo. Maski saan yan sila, ngayon dito sa Pilipinas pati sa Taiwan nandyan sila, gulo ‘yan,” aniya.

Umaasa rin ang dating pangulo na mawawala na ang colonial mentality na dulot ng pananakop ng mga dayuhan sa bansa gaya ng mga Espanyol at mga Amerikano.
‘Yung independence natin sa America. We should be winged, dapat malutas tayo dyan sa colonial mentality,” saad pa ng dating pangulo.
“Well overwhelming or advantages you can have relations with all countries, without really having too, wala kang bagahe. You can express everything and tell them every story that you dict. And establish good relations with all of China, America. Kasi dito yung America, tayo tinitingnan talaga as a sorry to say, kasi lucky of America because of the presence of so many troops. Any foreign military men in somebody else’s country is not good and it is always a burden,” ayon pa kay FPRRD.
