UNITED Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan greeted Narendra Modi on his re-election as India’s Prime Minister.
Sheikh Mohamed said he looks forward to continued collaboration with India after Modi’s successful re-election, whom he described as his friend.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to my friend @NarendraModi on his re-election as Prime Minister and wish him success in leading India to further progress and growth. Our two countries enjoy a deeply rooted strategic partnership and I look forward to our continued collaboration aimed at advancing the shared development goals of our nations and our peoples,” Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the UAE said.
Modi visited the UAE several times within the past 12 months while Sheikh Mohamed reciprocated the gesture by visiting India in January of this year for a working visit.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also congratulated Modi and expressed his trust in his leadership.
Leaders from more than 50 countries greeted the Indian Prime Minister including U.S. President Joe Biden. The Indian Prime Minister is expected to travel to Italy on the 13th and 14th of June, where he will meet Biden and other Group of Seven (G7) leaders.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin was the first international leader to congratulate Modi on the telephone. The influential Indian leader will also travel to Kazakhstan on the 3rd and 4th of July for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, where he will meet with the Presidents of Russia, China, and Central Asian countries.
About 640 million voters participated in the elections which lasted 44 days, according to the Election Commission of India.
The UAE and India share decades-long bilateral ties bound by deep mutual understanding. The gulf nation serves as a second home to more than three million Indians.
