NATO member-state Hungary vowed to never go to war against Russia or be involved in the Ukraine conflict.

This was the statement of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during a Friday interview with a local radio station in the country.

According to Orban, Hungary sees the Russia-Ukraine conflict as a ‘close’ yet ‘outside threat’.

The prime minister said, and quote ‘’We are not involved in the war, Hungary is not at war with Russia, and will not be for as long as this government is in place, certainly not.’’

Orban also promised that Hungary will not go to war against Russia as long as his government is in place.

Since the conflict began, it can be noted that Hungary has had a neutral stance with regard to the issue.

It has not sent any military aid to Ukraine, nor has it allowed the passage of arms through its territory.

Hungary has also been vocal in its opposition to imposing sanctions against Russia, it has also continued providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
