THE defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers failed to defend their crown in the recently concluded Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
Creamline was defeated by Kurashiki Ablaze from Japan in a tight finals match with a score of 19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13.
In the fifth set, Creamline led with a score of 12-13 after Ced Domingo’s spike.
However, Ablaze quickly secured three straight points through consecutive attacks by Tanabe Saki and an ace from Tamaru Asaka.
Kyoka Ohshima was named the final’s most valuable player for her 19 excellent sets and five points in the championship match.
Tamaru Asaka was awarded 1st Best Outside Spiker, while Alyssa Valdez received 2nd Best Outside Spiker.
Majoy Baron of F2 Logistics and Ced Domingo of Creamline were awarded Best Middle Blocker.
Tots Carlos was recognized as the Best Opposite Spiker, scoring 27 points.
Ces Molina was honored as the conference’s Most Valuable Player.
With this, Creamline secured the silver medal in the league, while Cignal HD Spikers took home the bronze medal after defeating F2 Logistics with a score of 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18.
JMC Lady Royals defeat Lyceum Lady Pirates in national invitationals
The Jose Maria College Lady Royals secured their first victory in the Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals.
This was after they defeated National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) runners-UP Lyceum of the Philippines University Lady Pirates in four sets with a score of 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, and 26-24.
Johma Palero led the Lady Royals with 18 points, followed by Michaela Oliveros with 15 points.
At present, Jose Maria College Foundation Inc. (JMCFI) has a record of 1 win and 1 loss in pool C of the tournament.
